book worm

I really love bookstores. I could wander around Barnes and Noble for hours because I lose track of time as I make my way through the isles, collecting books to add to my collection. I am completely guilty of judging a book by its cover, too. If it has a pretty illustration or fun lettering on the front, I'm more likely to read the back. Does anyone else do that?

Even though I have a pile of books in the photos, I only bought one. I've been in a reading rut and I really haven't read finished anything in months! I've been missing it lately; I used to read books one after another! I ended up leaving with this book and I'm so excited about it! My best friend bought it, too! I think it's a book for everyone to read and find inspiration in and after briefly flipping through it, I think it's going to be amazing. And hopefully it'll make me want to read more!

I have been looking for boyfriend jeans for a really long time. And then I found these. They're actually the slim boyfriend jean and I think that's why I like them. You still get the slouchy and casual look of a standard bf jean, with a slimmer silhouette. I also wanted a lighter wash, since I tend to go for medium to dark wash denim all the time. I love the casual feel you get with the lighter wash and I think darker colored sweaters are going to look so amazing with these because they'll really pop against the lighter color.

[ size ref: they're 100% cotton and I got a 25, my normal size. They were tight but stretched every so slightly, as cotton does, and the fit is perfect! ]

I ordered this cropped Levis sweatshirt from the Anthropologie sale and I'm so glad I did! I love cropped sweaters/sweatshirts. They have a retro feel, especially this one, which I adore! And they're so much fun to style, I really like to wear them with high waisted skirts! It would also look really cute with a flannel layered underneath!

If only I could wear this outfit to work...

all wrapped up

As I'm writing this, I'm in bed with a really bad cough and sinus problems - an issue I deal with every year when the season changes! So I thought I'd talk about scarves today! I frequently go through clothes and give away or sell what I no longer want or wear. I did this a few weeks ago with my scarves and realized that I really need to updated my collection. I bought this scarf a while ago from Zara and I love it. I don't have anything else like it and it's oversized and really fun! Now I want something more neutral that goes along with my everyday color palette.

I was browsing on ASOS, I always love going on there as long as I have an idea of what to look for because while there's SO much to look at, you can find really amazing things!

1. long + color blocked | I love that this is neutral color blocked! It will go with everything, but is such a statement piece. And it looks SO warm!

2. knitted with baubles | I think this my favorite of the bunch! It's so fun and it would look great with a longer trench or cocoon coat or even with a shorter moto jacket if you wrapped it around your neck once!

3. checked | the most colorful of them all, but I think this would pair well with so many colors and I think it would be especially amazing with a camel coat and black booties!

4. blush with tassels | I consider blush a neutral. I constantly wear it and I think it pairs well with most colors. Olive. Camel. Black. White. Navy. Light Blue. Taupe. Alllll the colors. I'm tempted with this one because I just threw away a blush scarf that I wore into the ground. Literally, it had a hole in it. Best H&M find ever.

5. cream + brown | this one is so simple, but I really like it! How pretty would it be with a colorful top or flannel? Perfect for fall! Also, it's similar to the first one, but not as long or heavy!

what are you shopping for right now!?

fall on the farm

This weekend, we went to a big fall festival in Bradenton and it was amazing! I've been to a couple of fall fest's before and they were a bit underwhelming, but this was huge! Colorful pumpkins, fair food, live music, a train running through a corn maze, a petting zoo, games... My favorite part was the butterfly tent. There was a giant tent filled with plants and butterflies! When you went in, you were surrounded by them fluttering everywhere! They also gave you these little plastic pieces that looked kind of like matchsticks; the butterflies would crawl onto them and then you could get a closer look or take photos! It was amazing!

Also amazing? This sweater. It makes people take a notice, I feel. Possibly because it's hot pink, but also because look at the sleeves on this thing. I wore this around a fair ground where I ate pizza and was petting cute farm animals and I can honestly say that this is not a fussy sweater. It's billowy and free, but not obnoxious and it's cropped length keeps everything balanced. I also wore this to get ice cream the night before [ #outfitrepeater ] and it was perfect for a breezy night. It's also SO WONDERFULLY SOFT. Like blanket soft and that's a win. I kind of love the cropped length, too. Living in Florida, or the south in general, means that fall is still hot AF, so pairing sweaters with cut-off's is often my go to and cropped sweaters are perfect for that.

[ sizing ref: I'm wearing my normal size and it's roomy. If you size up, it would be ots and that would also be really cute! ]

However, to make it work appropriate [ which I totally plan to do! ] I just bought this skirt and I think it would be perfect with it! I love hot pink and dark green!

sweater weather

This white skirt is one of my favorite's and I've worn it on the blog previously, in this post here. I try to wear my clothes year round and I knew this skirt would be perfect with a chunky sweater for fall/winter. It's also great for work. In the last post, I showed how to style it for day/night, but now I'm more focused on the season and making it work appropriate.

I found this sweater at Nordstrom and grabbed it quickly as I was checking out not thinking too much about it. Then when I got home I started having second thoughts. I have so much cream and why don't I ever buy other colors? I have so many neutrals. Do I need another neutral sweater? Probably not. But will this be the last one. Also no.

Obviously I didn't return it and it's because it's so soft and the color is more beige than cream and it's a great wear with anything sweater. Like how cute would it be with simple skinnies and and a loafer? It's happening.

[ comes in 5 other colors! ]

This Friday, I'm heading to Ocala for part of the weekend and then Sunday I'm going to a Fall festival (hopefully)! I'm so excited to see horses and visit friends! I can't believe it's been 5 years since I've lived there and my life is so different now!

see you monday!

look what you made me dough

Earlier this week at work, someone mentioned that there was a cookie dough stand and I immediately knew what I wanted to do this weekend. I love cookie dough sometimes more than the actual cookies and now there's dedicated places that serve it. it's amazing. And so cute!

We went to The Happy Dough and it was the cutest little stand that served cookie dough in a variety of flavors! I got the standard chocolate chip, but the cookies & cream also looked amazing! And it was served in colorful cups with matching spoons! Fun tip about the spoons: you can save them and use them for yogurt or ice cream, too! I have a friend who would ask for a bunch of them whenever we'd go for frozen yogurt and then we'd just always have some! They're the best for snacks!

What I wore:
I posted a photo of this sweater on instagram when I first wore it, but I wanted to talk more about it. Because I'm obsessed. It's SO soft. I love when wearing things like this. When they're so soft and cozy, yet acceptable for the public. It slouchy and oversized, but cropped, so it's balanced. The bow adds a playful detail that dresses it up and makes it more than just another cream sweater in my closet. Because there are a few. Although one does have a cat on it... However if you don't have a cream sweater obsession, there are other colors, look at that red one!

Once agaim, it's still in the omg I'm about to be a puddle because of this heat temps, so I paired the sweater with shorts for survival purposes and because I loved them together.

I know I've said it before, but I've never worn much black. It was always too dark for me and I've always gravitated towards color and light neutrals. Recently, though, I've been slowly adding black into my wardrobe and I kinda love it. It's chic and classic.

This dress is from Zara and I found it on the sale rack for $9 (love when that happens!) But here's a similar one! I sized up to a medium for length! I love the style and ease of this dress! And it will be perfect for the cooler weather!

I picked up this scarf later and love the way it breaks up the black and highlights the orange! It's also super cozy!

I think part of the reason why I've been loving black is the simplicity of it. I've been obsessed with these Mink Pink sunglasses and I've been wearing them everywhere! And after searching everywhere, I've found a super similar pair!

freshly picked

We found a really cute produce stand nearby and decided to stop to see if they had pumpkins! I really love the lighter colored pumpkins, but I thought this little produce place was so cute! They had stacks of pumpkins amongst the other vegetables and it was close quarters, but not overly crowded, perfect for photos! They also had the cutest succulents and now I want to get more to add to my collection!

I wanted a fall scene for this top because it's flannel and perfect for the season. I saw this flannel when I was wandering through Francesca's one day after work and loved the girly details and flowy fit. Flannel is very borrowed from the boys, nothing wrong with that, but I love the feminine style of this button-up with the cinched back and pearl embellishments. It's such a statement.

I think this top would also look really cute with white jeans! I went with my usual denim and added my favorite fun flats! They're old from Kate Spade, but she brings back critter flats every season and how cute are these?! These are perfect when I want to add whimsy to my outfit!

skirting around

I'm so excited to share this outfit. I wore it to work last week and it's definitely one of my favorite outfit's that I can't wait to repeat! I saw this skirt in Express and didn't buy right away, but couldn't stop thinking about it. It has the best flounce, is super fun, and I love the asymmetrical ruffle! I went back a few days later and bought it because I knew I'd wear it a ton!

I found this top at Francesca's and unfortunately it's not online yet. Of all things I'm missing in my closet, it's a white button down. But I'm super particular about them and I haven't found the right one [ although I'm eyeing this one from Banana Republic! ] However, I found this pearl and ruffled statement blouse and it was an instant buy! The material is soft and thick and I love the extra details that make something that's normally basic extra special. I can't wait to wear this with jeans and a fun shoe!

I think this skirt would be so perfect for a downtown dinner! Maybe with a navy silk cami and vevet shoes? Adding those booties to my wish list now.

fall in bloom

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is go out for coffee. I make coffee at home before I leave for work, but stopping for a Starbucks or popping into one of the cute coffee shops in Tampa is the best! Last weekend, I added buying fresh flowers to the list and I found the prettiest blooms that looked like fall :)

I'm very picky when it comes to the color purple. I don't love all shades, but I do love this top and I love lavender with olive green. I think it's so pretty for fall and it's a color combo right up my street. This tee is the softest! It comes in multiple colors! It's perfect for wearing alone with jeans and for layering with a cardigan and chunky scarf when it gets cooler outside. The material has the prettiest sheen and I think it would look great tucked into a skirt for work as well! How amazing would it be with this one and over the knee boots?

I've been living in my favorite things on the weekend because I can't wear them to work. These jeans are my favorite, my little green bag, and some booties from last year. Weekend wear is the best.
