nighttime beaching

Last week, my best friend texted me and asked if I wanted to go to the movies. It was the weekend and neither of us had any plans #grandmas. If there's a movie I really want to see, I love going, but I was feeling so restless, so I suggested the beach instead. It seemed like a great idea until we got there in the middle of a downpour.

It ended up being more of a night drive than a beach walk. And to top it all off, her sister got in a not so great car accident right at that moment, too, so we ended up having to rush back!

But then last Saturday we somehow ended up at the same beach, this time with clear skies and it was amazing. It's summer in Florida and the beaches are normally crowded with locals and tourists soaking up the sun and keeping cool in the ocean. But at nearly 11 o'clock at night, it was empty and eerily quiet. Perfect for thinking and talking. Another incredible factor? The stars. Whitney even saw a shooting star, I missed it but, still. Amazing, nonetheless.

If you're looking for a spot to think, have yet another endless conversation with your BFF of 15 years, or just listen to the waves. That's where you go. Until you spot a creature behind you because we did and then we hightailed it out of there because lord knows what it was and it was so dark that it was nearly impossible to see!

Whitney was saying that we're so fortunate to live in a place like this. People travel here to see the beach and stay for a few days to experience it and maybe they'll get to come visit again. But we can make the short drive whenever we want and enjoy it. We definitely didn't appreciate enough growing up and we probably still don't, but it's one of my favorite things about living here!

see you monday!
