my favorite smoothie recipe

I'm addicted to smoothies! I drink one everyday after yoga (more on that soon!) and I love finding new recipes and making them at home. One of the reasons why I started making them was because I needed something extra throughout the day, they give me back a lot of the energy that yoga takes away! And if you're someone who craves sweets (so guilty), a smoothie is a healthier alternative and it curbs the cravings! They're also the perfect snack or addition to lunch, depending on what's added and how filling it will be!

I got The Original Magic Bullet as a Christmas gift and it's been amazing! It is smaller than a regular blender, so you have to portion your ingredients accordingly. So while I use this recipe, I modify it a bit so that everything fits and can be blended.

[ blend ]
1 banana
a small handful of frozen blueberries
a couple of spoonfuls of vanilla Greek yogurt
a dollop of honey
a splash of milk

blend until creamy + add a fun straw!

enjoy :)

ps, follow me on Pinterest because I'm constantly adding smoothie recipes!

little greek town

This weekend we left the rain behind (we got lucky again) and headed a bit north to Tarpon Springs, a coastal town with a large Greek community. It actually has the largest Greek population in the US! It's super touristy, but it's also really cute and whether you're looking for an eventful day or if you just want to meander and have a wander through the shops, it's worth the visit.

One of the excursions offered is a dolphin run. You go out on a boat into the Gulf and see the dolphins! Obviously you're never guaranteed anything with these excursions, but I've been before and we've always seen dolphins! There's also bakeries, Greek food, a beautiful marina, and so many different shops to pop in and out of! All of which are colorful and unique.

It was SO hot and after about an hour, we were done. I wore my favorite Levis cutoff's (the one's I linked are similar) and a light off the shoulder top. A white top with denim shorts is the easiest, especially on a hot day. My pop of color was my beloved flamingo Vans, which were from last year, but look at these!

salty summer

The rain finally let up for a couple of hours and we jumped in the car and headed to the beach to soak up the sunset. I cannot tell you how amazing wonderful relaxing it was to be at the beach. The white sand is so soft and despite of the crazy rain, the water was really warm. And the sunset was cotton candy goodness! It was definitely worth the hour-ish drive with the constant praying that the rain would just stay away. On the way home, we drove with the windows down and the music up and omg, my hair was a nest from all the blowing around, but it the best #summernight!

This easy tank is what you wear for an evening beach stroll with your best friend. It's light and breezy and a little bit sassy. I threw my bathing suit top on underneath just because even though I knew we wouldn't swim. I've also been wearing these shorts constantly. I love that they button-up instead of zip AND they're now less than $15!!

[ sizing: I'm wearing a small in the shirt + it's perfect for a relaxed fit.
For the shorts, I'm wearing a 26  + they're super stretchy but stay in place! ]

red, white + water

I wanted to do a July 4th outfit inspiration post, but I also wanted to try be a little bit different from all of the red, white, and blue posts going up around this time. Not that there's anything wrong with them, I read them all and love them! But this outfit would be perfect if you want cute and casual for lunch al fresco or if you're grabbing an ice cream cone after dinner, maybe before fireworks!

No surprise, gingham has been everywhere lately. I've had this airy red gingham top for a while and it's perfect for summer! I paired it with my favorite white overalls and headed down to Bradenton, where there are colorful buildings, beach side restaurants, and hand painted signs, palm tree lined streets, and jeeps everywhere! I love that town! I feel like when I put this outfit together, my initial thought was, farm girl. Because red checked shirt and overalls are a bit cliche. But when you add a fun shoe, bold sunnies (mine have a blue tint!), and a red lip, it fits right in with the easy coastal style. My accessories are, as usual, minimal with just this blue wrap bracelet. I like to wear just one or two pieces at a time anyway and this bracelet was the perfect pop of blue to accompany the outfit.

on the rocks

Florida has been getting so much rain lately. For the past week, it's rained everyday and we've barely had any sunshine. Despite the name of this blog (partly nuageux means partly cloudy in French) I need sunshine, at least part of the time. All of this grey is driving me crazy and does anyone else get really sleepy with this weather? On Sunday, we ignored the impending doom rain and drove down to Ruskin for photos and water. This waterscape was so pretty and there were super cute beach condos down there, too!

This top is bright and happy I feel like it adds a little bit of sunshine! Yellow has been everywhere this season and perfect timing, too, because it adds a great pop to an outfit. I also feel like this top covers all the bases when it comes to the current trend, it's off the shoulder, yellow, with an eyelet detail and a scalloped edge. All in one.

I paired it with these high waisted shorts and they are super flattering and really comfortable. I definitely recommend! [ they're also on super sale right now and are still available in most sizes! ]
I've also been wearing these sandals with so much. I don't normally like flip flops, but the braided leather and casual style make them easy to pair with everyday outfits!

vicki jean

Stripes + a marina = standard practice. However I felt like I blended in with my surroundings with the navy striped skirt, cork sandal and pretty white tank top. I love marinas though, each boat has a name and it's totally nosy, but fun to see what people leave on board as you walk along the docks! These docks were lined with all different kinds of ships in the water and scattered with summer gear here and there.

A flowy skirt was perfect for this humid day and I tied my hair back in a low bun and just let strands fall as they did. I like to combine dressy and casual elements to make up an outfit. A lot of the time, I'm running errands or scoping out a new to me area for lunch or photos, so I don't like to feel too dressed up. I wore this skirt with wedge sandals but I paired it with a lace tank top and a messy bun. Perfect balance.

Also, this lace tank top is not lined. And when I bought it, I wasn't exactly sure how I'd style it for day. It's easy to pull something like this off for night, because while it's more of a risk, there's a lot you can do. I actually have a white lace bra that mimics the lace of the top and it looks like part of the top. I'd wear that out and it was a great nightlife option. But for day, I wanted something softer. I paired it with a white bralette and it's so subtle, perfect for daytime!

the carolina herrera exhibit at scad

One of the best memories I have from attending Savannah College of Art & Design was the SCAD Museum. Truthfully, I rarely went, but whenever they had a fashion exhibition, I made the time. I loved going alone to wander through, taking my time and taking photos of the featured designer's creations. Today I'm showing Carolina Herrera's amazing dresses that were on display, but I also went to the Vivienne Westwood exhibit! I can show that one a bit later! The only one I missed (and I'm still kicking myself for) is Oscar de la Renta!

Carolina Herrera designs the most beautiful, elegant, and timeless dresses and seeing them in person was unforgettable. I think I walked through at least three times! The first photo in the post is so representational of Herrera herself, with a white collared shirt and black flared skirt. She's made that look iconic! And not pictured (it wasn't allowed) was the amazing black and bow-on-the-shoulder dress that Lady Gaga wore for the Grammy nominations! However, every single dress, whether celebrity worn or not, was so gorgeous! I think my favorite was the black tulle gown covered in daisies!

I thought I'd share a few photos here because I love seeing posts like this! But I'd love to know what you think! :)

rain or shine

I love the rain, but as you might've guessed, it's not the most convenient for taking outfit photos... But Whitney and I had a glimmer of hope when the clouds parted (literally, it was quite bright out, hence my obnoxious sunglasses) and took the risk to do photos and visit this pretty park! Low and behold, maybe 15 minutes in, it was raining again.

We ran to the car, which I imagine was comical considering I'm never in appropriate footwear, but I did bring my raincoat and a giant bubble umbrella! I've actually always wanted to take photos with it, because, look how cute it is?!

And if you're wondering, Whitney was getting soaked while taking my photos. I love her dearly for it, too. Also, sometimes you gotta risk it to get the biscuit. She got me this unicorn tank as a birthday gift (which isn't until the end of the month) and it says 'don't quit your daydream' inside the unicorn. How true is that? This almost 26 year old may be wearing a pink sparkly unicorn shirt, but it has an important message with it, keep that in mind.
